Our workshop presenter application is now closed. Thank you for your overwhelming response.
Foundations will notify presenters of their acceptance between now and November 10, 2017 at latest.
If you are notified of your acceptance to present a workshop, here’s what you will need to know and do next:
Register for the conference: Lead and co-presenters are asked to register for the Beyond School Hours Conference within 30 days of notification of their acceptance. Lead and co-presenters who do not register within this timeframe may be dropped from the conference schedule. The conference registration fee for the lead presenter is $289. The conference registration fee for co-presenters is $559.
Make your travel & lodging arrangements: All travel and lodging costs and arrangements are the presenter’s responsibility. See “Lodging/Travel” in our Frequently Asked Questions for registration information: https://beyondschoolhours.org/attend/faq/
Arrange for your audiovisual needs: Presenters are responsible, at their sole cost and expense, for providing, or making arrangements directly with PSAV audiovisual services to provide LCD projectors, laptops, overheads, microphones, and any other technology, equipment, supplies, and/or materials needed to conduct their presentations. Presenters can rent equipment, if needed, by filling out a rental form directly with PSAV. This form will be available on the Beyond School Hours website in fall 2017. Foundations will provide a complimentary screen and power cord in each workshop room. Foundations will assign presenter workshop rooms in accordance with conference space and needs.
Prepare, copy and bring your workshop handouts: Presenters are responsible for duplicating and providing copies of their handouts to workshop participants. Foundations is unable to archive electronic copies of workshop handouts for download.
Presenter Welcome Meeting: Presenters are invited to join a welcome meeting on Wednesday, February 21 from 3:30-4:00 pm. Although the meeting is not mandatory, it offers a great opportunity to get acquainted, hear important information, and ask questions.
Workshop Evaluations: All BSH workshops are evaluated. Presenters are asked to distribute BSH-supplied evaluation forms to workshop attendees and collect them at the end of the workshop session. A Foundations staff member will then collect the completed evaluation forms from presenters at the end of the workshop.
Tips for preparing your workshop for air time
Just like education features a revolving cast of characters, multiple moving parts and unrehearsed interactions, we believe professional development should feel unscripted and come full of surprises.
BSH attendees learn best in lively, interactive presentations that:
- Use resources and technology in unexpected ways
- Include innovative and unusual formats
- Draw ideas from outside the education/OST community
- Deliver “must see” results for a wider audience
- Involve flexible programs and real-time adaptability
- Include handouts and your contact information for potential follow up
Note: Commercial / sales workshops pitching your products or services are prohibited
