Pre-Conference Leadership Institute

Emerging Leaders

Featuring Captain Barrington Irving

Wednesday, February 26, 2020 | 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

Space limited; pre-registration required; additional fee

Get energized for BSH with our pre-conference leadership institute! This year, we’re focusing on emerging leaders. How can existing leaders best support the up and comers? What skills do new leaders need to cultivate? This exciting, hands-on session is perfect for the leaders of today and tomorrow!

We’ll kick off the day with a keynote from Captain Barrington Irving, a National Geographic Emerging Explorer who knows all about rising above obstacles!

After growing up poor in a dangerous Miami neighborhood, Captain Irving became the first African American and youngest person to ever fly solo around the world. Today he travels the globe on expeditions designed to get kids excited about learning — and inspiring everyone he meets along the way!

After the keynote, it’s time for hands-on learning! Our breakout sessions are a collaboration between Captain Irving’s Flying Classroom and CreatED by Crayola. Explore creative leadership and innovative approaches to building an inspirational school culture.

By lottery, 15 lucky attendees will also accompany Captain Irving on an expedition to SIMCOM for flight simulator training — but don’t worry, you’ll be back before the Exhibit Hall Happy Hour!
