Growing an Afterschool Community
Johanna Friedel, Greenville ISD
Growing an Afterschool Community is a fresh look at the components of building critical relationships through collaboration from all stakeholders. Key strategies to building relationships with families, school districts, the community and corporate partners will be shared. The presentation features step by step procedures to get you started on engaging these important stakeholders, ways to implement, and how to sustain long lasting collaborative relationships and hands on ways to practice your skills.
Objectives for the presentation include giving a specific procedure that attracts entities to partner with your program, collaboration techniques, and practice relational strategies. Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to identify four types of partnerships that are critical to a healthy, growing afterschool program, successfully utilize skills to maintain partner engagement, and understand how supporting the family component in the program is critical to a student’s academic success and emotional health.
Activities included in the presentation will be hands-on in nature and will include a workshop guide, how to engage your community non-profits, how corporate image is critical to onboarding the private sector and creating powerful parent partners.
