Fear is widely known for causing the “fight, flight, freeze or fawn response” in all of us. Fear is also responsible for the release of stress hormones. For youth with limited capacity to emotionally manage the stress associated with fear the challenges become coping with the automatic responses that in many cases include reduced stress regulation, anxiety, and physical/verbal responses.
Our ability to see through the fear students feel, experience and express with acting out, isolation, silence, violence and poor performance in academic settings is crucial to ensuring youth success. This interactive session will offer attendees tools and strategies to help diffuse anger and rage in youth by building their capacity to see through their fears and embrace their potential to transition from a fixed mindset to a growth and asset-based mindset.
